CLI command

probierz gif

Render a silent, looping README GIF from one real journey recording and write its provenance sidecar.

Invocation#

Shell
probierz gif --out <OUTPUT> <INPUT>

Required inputs and options#

  • `<video>` and `--out <file.gif>` are required.
  • `--start` is non-negative (0 when omitted). `--duration` keeps that many seconds, and the rest of the clip when omitted; `--fps` and `--width` are positive integers, and the source's own frame rate and width are kept when they are omitted — Probierz chooses no duration, rate, width or ceiling. `--force` permits replacement.

Output and state effects#

Uses ffmpeg to create the GIF and writes `<file.gif>.probierz.json` (schema probierz.readme-gif.v1) with source/output hashes, render settings, and required publication review checks. The source video is never modified. MCP: probierz_create_readme_gif.

Exact refusals#

  • Missing input or output is refused by the argument parser, naming `<INPUT>` or `--out <OUTPUT>`.
  • Input must be an existing regular non-symlink file (`input video does not exist: <path>`); output must end in `.gif` and differ from input.
  • Existing output or sidecar is refused without `--force`; invalid numeric bounds and ffmpeg failures are explicit errors.
  • The retired spelling `readme-gif` is an unknown command.
